PHILADELPHIA – Oloroso, Philadelphia’s premier Spanish-inspired tapas restaurant in the heart of Center City, has officially launched an exclusive tasting menu format dinner aptly-dubbed Chef’s Counter, helmed by acclaimed Executive Chef Jason Peabody. Designed for a two-person dining experience, guests can enjoy an ever-evolving collection of 18 – 22 tapas prepared and presented by Peabody and team while perched at the counter overlooking the open-concept woodfire-burning kitchen in the vibrant, Spanish-style restaurant designed by Chef/Owner Townsend Wentz.

SOUTH PHILLY - The statue of Christopher Columbus in South Philadelphia's Marconi Park has received a new look. City officials painted the box that covers it with the colors of the Italian flag. They did so at the request of District Councilman Mark Squilla. The statue was the source of controversy during racial justice protests two years ago. Initially, city officials said the statue would be removed from the public park. However, several citizen groups and individuals filed lawsuits to keep the statute in place. Until now, the statute has been enclosed while the Commonwealth Court considers the matter.
PHILADELPHIA - Brandywine Branch Distillers, makers of the award-winning craft spirits Revivalist Botanical Gin and Resurgent Whiskey, is introducing a new line of botanical whiskeys this October. The innovative new line will launch with two expressions: sarsaparilla with cherry bark and licorice root; and coffee bean with chicory root. Unlike many other whiskeys that contain sugar and ‘other natural flavors,’ Resurgent is infused, not flavored, using only the finest botanicals. These all-natural whiskeys have no sugar, no WONF (with other natural flavors), and no preservatives.
PHILADELPHIA - For the first time since the foundation was created in 2013, the Trauma Survivors Foundation’s Black Tie & Sneakers Masquerade Ball will be coming to Philadelphia as LIVE! The casino will host the 1,000-person gala fundraiser on Saturday, November 5th, from 7 to 11 p.m. inside the property’s Event Center at 900 Packer Avenue in South Philly.
PHILADELPHIA – New Liberty Distillery, the Philadelphia craft distillery and home to spirit lines including the now-revived heritage Kinsey brand, has been announced as Distillery of the Year by the American Distilling Institute (ADI) with the noted annual Bubble Cap Award, which is given to distilleries making contributions to the industry by advancing modernized legislation and making world-class spirits. At the 2022 ADI International Spirits Competition, New Liberty Distillery was also awarded one Gold Medal, six Silver Medals, and four Bronze Medals in various categories.
PHILADELPHIA - Vera Bradley has teamed up with Star Wars to create an exclusive line of merchandise. The brand has previously collaborated with Disney, but this time it has turned to Star Wars. The company has a store at Disney Springs dedicated to Darth Vader, and their Darth Vader line includes everything from backpacks to totes.
PHILADELPHIA – Jet Wine Bar, Philadelphia’s “global vineyard" and South Street's urban oasis, is kicking off Pennsylvania Wine Month this October by highlighting local wineries through the Meet the Maker Happy Hours series, held every Thursday in October from 5 – 8 pm. Wine connoisseurs can indulge in flights and bites and sip on Jet Wine Bar’s signature wine flights after each event (or until wines are sold out).
PHILADELPHIA - Chefs in Residency at Volver is back for a second season with a new lineup of featured chefs.
