Cafe Forîn, a cafe and lifestyle hub, has opened in Kensington. By owners Seth Kligerman, Kyle Horne, and Will Landicho. Tucked inside Harbison's Dairy is a charming 19th-century refurbished dairy plant, which has now been turned into a boutique residential and commercial space at 2041 Coral St.
Jose Garces & Steven Seibel Announce Hook & Master - A Chicago native himself, Chef Jose Garces, always wanted to open a Chicago-style pizza concept in Philadelphia. After meeting with Steven Seibel and finding the old Liquid Room space was available at 2nd & Master Streets in Kensington. Hook & Master was born; the new restaurant will seat 80 guests outside in the "Octopus' Garden," with 25 seats in the downstairs eatery and 45 seats upstairs in the Tiki Lounge.
New Liberty Distillery, located in South Kensington at 1431 Cadwallader St., and near Center City. Once a stable and much of its architecture and horse stalls, the original building has been preserved. Today, the building is home to New Liberty Distillery with custom-made stills and a rick house where the whiskey is barrel-aged.
Zig Zag BBQ, a new BBQ joint, is now open in Kensington, Philadelphia, as Zig Zag BBQ will open up next to Martha's at 2111 E York Street. The new barbeque spot will officially open last year, bringing Brisket, Pork Ribs, and Texas-Style BBQ to Philly; the former barbecue pop-up will open as a brick-and-mortar adjacent to Martha's in Philadelphia's Kensington District.
