PHILADELPHIA, PA - Three years ago, Larry Krasner stepped into the job as Philadelphia's top prosecutor, and like then, he did not have an easy path to victory.

Carlos Vega Challenges Incumbent Larry Krasner

Backed four years ago by billionaire George Soros who pumped nearly $1.5 million in the cities district attorney race, looking to influence local DA's races across the county in the name of criminal justice reform.

Krasner has not disappointed his progressive supporters. He led an overhaul of Philadelphia's cash bail system, supported decriminalization of certain minor crimes, and has vigorously pushed for policing reforms.

In Today's election, Krasner now faces re-election against former assistant district attorney Carlos Vega, who Krasner fired back in 2018.

Vega is running against Krasner's inability to keep Philadelphians safe. Saying, "Larry Krasner promised us the justice that would make us safer."

The winner of Today's election primary has a high probability of winning the election later this year, as the city historically votes Democratic. However, defense attorney Chuck Peruto, a Democrat-turned-Republican, is also running against Krasner on the republican side, in case Vega's bid is unsuccessful.
