PENNSYLVANIA - The best fiddlers from across the region and fiddle enthusiasts are encouraged to gather at Bear Creek Mountain Resort for Berks Fiddle Fest on Sunday, September 18, from 9 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. The event draws nearly 3,000 people from across the Mid-Atlantic Region for a day of music, fellowship, and home-cooked food, with the beautiful mountain serving as the gorgeous backdrop.


This low-cost, family-oriented event is a celebration of American Folklore at its best. Admission is $8 for adults ages 13 and above, $5 for ages six to 12, and free for children under five.

Aspiring and established fiddle players may participate in an Open Mic Jam, sponsored by Berks Fiddle Fest, the Kline Family Mountain Folk Scholarship Fund, the Reading Musical Foundation, and Bear Creek Mountain Resort, from 11 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Live performances throughout the day include a gospel service at 9 a.m., a morning concert series at 9:30 a.m., a salute to America honoring our Veterans at 1 p.m., a fiddle competition for children 12 and under at 1:15 p.m., Appalachian Ed at 2:15 p.m., a fiddle competition for teenagers between 13 and 17, Dave Fry at 3:45 p.m., a fiddle competition for adults 18 and older at 4:15 p.m., Fiddlemania at 5 p.m., and a "Swing Low Finale Jam" at 5:30 p.m.

Fiddle enthusiasts can also enjoy hot dogs, hamburgers, a pig roast, pulled pork sandwiches, a sausage lovers' platter, and the famous potato pancakes. In addition, attendees can visit a series of vendors, including The String Tree, Creations by Edie, Phoenix Treasures, Glitteratti Bakery, Huck Family Maple, Rustic Designs by Aimee White, G's Pics Booth, Mad Hatter, Turtle Works Jewelry Design, Mystical Creation, Kasbeads, Kayla Jean Design, Chrissy's Crafts, Designs by Monet Jewelry, The Mystic Mind, Miss B's Thrifty Boutique, Blended Life HD, Krafts Creation, D3, Hillbilly Hooch, Montchanin Mountain Music, Sculpts Hill Woodworking, and Wuchter Craft.
