Philadelphia, PA  – Bolo, Chef Yun Fuentes’ Latin American dining room & rum bar, celebrates National Mofongo Day (Sunday, September 24) with its renowned Lobster Mofongo. Since opening its doors in the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood of Philadelphia this year, Bolo has been praised by PhillyBite Magazine as one of the best new restaurants.



Mofongo is a staple of Puerto Rican cuisine, traditionally consisting of unripe green plantains that have been fried, boiled, or roasted before being mashed with seasonings and condiments. Chef Fuentes’ Lobster Mofongo comprises butter-poached whole lobster from Maine, lardo, green plantain timbale, and mojo isleño. “Mofongo is fundamental to Puerto Rican cuisine and culture," said Chef Fuentes. "It’s a dish that has had a place on the dinner table for generations; I was adamant that Bolo’s version gives it the respect and reverence it deserves.”

In addition to its Lobster Mofongo, Bolo offers a weekly happy hour Monday through Friday from 4 – 6 p.m. and late-night happy hour from 10 p.m. – 12 a.m. on Saturdays. Imbibers and foodies can enjoy a selection of $10 cocktails, $3 Medalla beers, $6 draft cerveza beers, $8 glasses of red or white wine along with $3 Ceviche Shooters, $6 pinchos (skewered meats and vegetables), and $8 piscolabis (snacks) and cuchifritos (fried foods).

Bolo also holds a Sunday Roast Lechon Dinne
r as part of their recently minted Sunday night service, available weekly from 4 – 9 p.m. Priced at $55 per person, the experience boasts a whole roasted pig served with traditional and seasonal accouterments.
