PHILADELPHIA - Van Leeuwen Ice Cream announces today the anticipated opening of their Rittenhouse scoop shop — marking the brand’s second Philadelphia location in under eight months.
Van Leeuwen Celebrates the Opening of a Second Location
Following the success of the brand’s introduction to the Philadelphia market last August, Van Leeuwen’s made-from-scratch dairy and vegan ice creams are in high demand. Located in Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse neighborhood on 18th street between Chestnut & Sansom, the scoop shop will officially open to the public on Friday, April 8, 2022.
To commemorate the brand’s much-anticipated second Philly location and 29th scoop shop overall, Van Leeuwen will be offering $1 scoops from 1 pm - 5 pm. The first 100 people in line will receive complimentary merchandise made in partnership with local mixed media and street artist Amberella, known for her signature heart messages found around Philadelphia’s streets, walls, and windows.

Exclusive to the new Rittenhouse location, Van Leeuwen has created a one-of-a-kind flavor, Alex’s Birthday Cake, inspired by the April birthday of Alex Holley, Philadelphia TV Anchor, and Host. While supplies last, visitors can enjoy scoops of the purple, floral amaretti ice cream with pink sprinkles and pieces of lemon cake.
Following the grand opening kickoff at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 8th, Van Leeuwen will be open from noon – 11 PM Sunday through Thursday and noon-midnight Friday and Saturday with a selection of 20+ ice cream and vegan ice cream flavors made with only quality ingredients, using simple recipes – no junk allowed! Along with its scoops, Van Leeuwen also offers freshly made waffle cones, signature sundaes, ice cream sandwiches, ice cream bars, milkshakes, and pints to-go.
