PHILADELPHIA - The first Barstool Sports Bars has opened in Center City, Philadelphia. The concept is backed by Penn National Gaming, a Wyomissing-based company that owns a stake in the company. Located at 1213 Sansom St., in Philadelphia.

With plans to open stand-alone locations of the bar brand around the country, with live sporting events streamed directly into the restaurant. Barstool also features betting tables and entertainment. The Philadelphia location is the first to feature the company's concept in the country.

Founded by controversial entrepreneur David Portnoy, Barstool Sports is an online sports bar that offers live sports and news. It will provide a casual atmosphere where people can watch games while enjoying food and drinks.

The new Philadelphia location offers a wide selection of beers, including drafts and bottled beer. Because it does not offer gambling, the Philadelphia branch will not have betting kiosks or gaming machines. However, the company hopes the new bar will complement its mobile application, which currently has a million users.

The Barstool sports bar is aimed at younger sports fans, and If all goes well, the company hopes to expand its operations in the area.
