PHILADELPHIA, PA - Philadelphia Parks & Recreation Commissioner Kathryn Ott Lovell announced the City’s outdoor pools will begin to open Wednesday, June 30. With sixteen public pools opening by the weekend.

Philadelphia to Open 47 City Pools

31 pools after that are scheduled to open during the following weeks for a total of 47 outdoor pools, as well as daily open swim and free swim lessons.

All this while dealing with a lifeguard shortage and local hiring challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition, residents can also stay cool a visiting any of our 90+ playgrounds, open seven days a week through Labor Day. Residents can search for all open pools and playgrounds near them using the Parks & Rec Finder App.
