PHILADELPHIA - Get ready to lace up those running shoes and feel the Philadelphia spirit! The Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation (SROCF) is pulling out all the stops for the 20th anniversary of the Sandy Sprint 5K Run/Walk on April 27th, 2024. Expect a day filled with music, iconic Philly faces, and a powerful reminder to support ovarian cancer awareness.

FOX29 Good Day Philadelphia's Karen Hepp will emcee the event at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.  Get excited with performances by the Mummers Fralinger String Band, Flyers Ice Girls, Eagles Pep Band, and Positive Movement Drumline. Even Ben Franklin (okay, a talented impersonator) will make an appearance!

Suzann Christine will perform the National Anthem, followed by the Philadelphia Boys Choir singing an uplifting rendition of "I'll Be There" by The Jackson 5. SROCF's celebrity ambassador, William Devry, will also be there to support the cause.

The festivities kicked off on March 24th with the unveiling of a vibrant new mural on Southwark at 4th and Bainbridge St. Artist Sarah Fogg, a passionate SROCF supporter, painted the mural in honor of her mother, who passed away from ovarian cancer. A replica backdrop at the Sandy Sprint will give participants the perfect "Instagrammable" moment.

You can pre-register for the Sandy Sprint on the event website. Registration fees start at $40 for adults and $30 for children under 12. If you can't run, you can still help – text "sandysprint" to 50155 to donate.

The Sandy Sprint isn't just about running or celebrating a milestone. It's about raising funds for ovarian cancer research, spreading awareness, and fostering a community for those battling the disease.
