Philadelphia, PA – On Sunday, October 1st, Cantina La Martina will host their inaugural Chile Nogada Festival from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. This event will feature local Latino vendors, each selling a different version of the traditional Mexican dish.

The Chile Nogada Festival will also include a competition with awards given to top participants. The judging will take place at 3 pm, and the judges include Josh Moore of @josheatsphilly, Jessica Griffin from The Philadelphia Inquirer, Raul Palomino Marin from Diageo, the Mexican Consul, and the winner of Cantina La Martina’s La Tamalada competition from earlier this year, Reyna Navarro.
Admission to the event is free, and guests are encouraged to bring cash to buy chile nogadas from the vendors. Chile nogadas cost $15 each, and Cantina La Martina has an ATM on site if needed. Vendors will be keeping 100% of their sales. Specialty drinks from Cantina La Martina will be available for purchase throughout the event, along with entertainment provided by local artists.
“Cantina La Martina is deeply committed to sharing Mexican cuisine, history, and culture," says James Beard Finalist Chef/Owner Dionicio Jimenez. “Our mission in hosting these festivals is to amplify the voices and food of our local Mexican community."
The Chile Nogada Festival is in Cantina La Martina’s large backyard. During the event, reservations will not be available outside, and the regular menu will not be open outside; however, reservations are available inside for the regular menu. Additionally, Cantina La Martina is collecting new and gently used Halloween costumes for the McPherson Library’s Fall Harvest event, so please bring them with you or drop them off at any time until October 27th.
