NEW JERSEY - The Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) will organize its Eighth Annual Women Fighting Hunger Luncheon from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on October 25, 2013, at the Park Avenue Club in Florham Park and the Linwood Country Club in Linwood. For the second year in a row, the event will take place at two venues simultaneously, one located in North Jersey and one in South Jersey, to unite supporters from all over the state. This Women Fighting Hunger Luncheon aims to raise $379,500 for CFBNJ's mission of providing healthy meals.

The attendees will attend an organized program, participate in a service project, have lunch, and socialize. The renowned culinary expert and food justice activist Sophia Roe will be the keynote speaker at the event. The arrangements for the appearance of Sophia Roe were made through UTA Speakers, New York, NY.

Sophia is living in Brooklyn. She is a James Beard Award-winning chef and writer, the creator of Apartment Miso, and an Emmy Award-nominated host on TV with a unique lens on fairness, diversity, and inclusiveness. Her love of eating has been linked to a belief that certain people can access healthy food while others sadly don't. This dichotomy is the basis of Sophia's work. It is about celebrating the beauty and art of cooking and creating tools to promote food justice and create more resilient and equitable systems.

The main speaker segment of the show will be hosted by NBC 4 New York Anchor Natalie Pasquarella, live from Florham Park, and telecast to Linwood.

This South Jersey event will also include a live discussion with certified fitness and nutritionist Nancy Adler and Samantha Kiley, the Executive Director of the AtlantiCare Foundation. The two will discuss well-being and health and how the environments where we live, work, and grow can affect our health.

The CFBNJ Women Fight Hunger Luncheon provides a chance to be part of a group of active women who have devoted their time to the CFBNJ mission. In 2020, CFBNJ launched its Women Fighting Hunger initiative during the Luncheon that expanded the event to South Jersey last year. Women Fighting Hunger members support the goals and objectives of CFBNJ by engaging in philanthropy, leadership, and collaboration.
