PHILADELPHIA - In celebration of the anniversary of Pita Chip’s Co-founder Omar Alsaadi’s emigration to the U.S. from Syria in 1979, the modern Middle Eastern quick-serve restaurant with locations at 3601 Market Street in University City, 1600 North Broad Street at Temple University, and 1623 Big Oak Road in the Oxford Oaks Shopping Center in Yardley, will be offering complimentary falafel wraps or bowls to the first 79 customers at each location when the shops open at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 9th. Additionally, anyone who misses the giveaway can purchase falafel bowls or wraps for only $0.79 throughout the day. No purchase is necessary for the giveaway, and both offers are limited to one item per person.

Alsaadi moved to the United States from Damascus, Syria, in December 1979. In conjunction with his “Americaversary,” he and his partners are excited to commemorate the milestone with a giveaway.

For this year’s celebration, Alsaadi and his partners have added a charitable initiative to the festivities. In addition to donating proceeds from the day’s sales to Northeast Philadelphia’s Caring for Friends, and Morrisville, PA’s Interfaith Food Alliance, both of which help combat food insecurity, Pita Chip will also solicit donations to the locally based non-profits at the register.

“I like to do something every year in early December to celebrate living my American dream, and this promotion was so successful last year that we knew we had to do it again,” said Alsaadi. “We love taking care of our loyal customers and serving the community, and we’re delighted that this day of free and seriously discounted deliciousness will help hungry people in need.”

Pita Chip’s menu features scratch-made hummus and sides, salad bowls, rice bowls, and wraps featuring chicken shawarma, beef shawarma, falafel, roasted vegetables, and a variety of authentic Middle Eastern desserts. Learn more about Pita Chip by visiting http://pitachipphilly.com.
