PHILADELPHIA - According to a study by the Sacramento Bee, Chevy and Ford's full-size trucks are the most-stolen vehicles in the U.S. in 2023. However, these vehicles are older, and many of them lack modern technology. California Highway Patrol officers interviewed by the newspaper said that older vehicles with turnkey ignition systems are more appealing to thieves.

Ford F-Series

According to a report released by the National Insurance Crime Bureau, Ford F-Series pickup trucks are among the most stolen vehicles in the U.S. The number of thefts was up 8% from the year before, and full-size pickups were the top-theft vehicles. Chevrolet took the top spot, while Ford came in second with 47,999 units reported stolen. The NICB doesn't draw conclusions about the differences between the two lists, but it is easy to see that late-model Detroit-brand trucks are more attractive to auto thieves than their Japanese counterparts. No European or South Korean brands made it onto either list, however.

The Jeep Cherokee/Grand Cherokee made its first appearance on the NICB's list, with 12,210 reports of theft in 2017. Toyota Corollas and Nissan Altimas were the most stolen cars of last year, and the NICB attributes their preference for older model cars to fewer security measures.

Chevrolet Silverado

According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), the Chevrolet Silverado will be the most-stolen car in America in 2023, with a 48 percent theft rate. The list was compiled from statistics from the past two decades and reflects changes in the U.S. car market over that time. The Silverado is a truck, so thieves often target this type of vehicle because of its easy start, making it a prime target for thieves.

The Chevrolet Silverado is one of the most common targets of thieves, partly because it is one of the most popular cars in the U.S. and partly because it's an easy target for thieves, thanks to its popularity and abundant supply of parts. In 2021, 31,000 Silverados were stolen. Of those, 2,090 were 2004 models - and many of these vehicles did not come with anti-theft devices.

Kia Telluride

The Kia Telluride has a long list of interior features, including a redesigned dash and steering wheel, a 12.3-inch touchscreen with navigation, and an upgraded digital instrument cluster panel. It also offers in-vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot capability, a digital key, and the Kia Access App, which allows remote climate control and door locks. The Kia Access App also offers stolen vehicle tracking.

The 2023 Kia Telluride is protected with an advanced anti-theft system that anticipates and detects unwelcome vehicle intrusions. It also has an ignition disable device that will prevent the car from starting without the original key. Additionally, the Telluride is fitted with a remote anti-theft alarm system. Unfortunately, it has been targeted by thieves because of a flaw in its key-fob system. The automaker has since addressed the vulnerability.

Honda Accord

Honda Accords are one of the most popular cars in America. They're ideal for daily commuters with a roomy interior and great fuel economy. But did you know that they're also one of the most stolen cars in the United States? It's a sad reality, but a car's popularity does not translate to its safety.

There are various reasons why cars are stolen, but the most popular reason is disassembly or resale. In order to sell the parts, thieves target cars that are easy to disassemble. That's why the list of the most stolen cars includes trucks, SUVs, and pickups.

Toyota Camry

The Toyota Camry is one of the best-selling passenger cars in the U.S., making it a prime target for thieves. This mid-size sedan is still one of the most commonly stolen vehicles in the country, and with its high demand for parts and repair services, there is no shortage of opportunities for thieves to prey on. But this year, the Camry is even more at risk than before. The car's new features were great, but they didn't elevate it above a basic transportation appliance.

In terms of thefts, the Toyota Camry is the most stolen car in America. Two Hondas and a Ford F-Series made the top five list for last year, but they weren't as popular in 2021. In fact, the Honda Civic, Nissan Altima, and Toyota Camry rounded out the top six.
