PHILADELPHIA - Devil's Den, Philadelphia's leading craft beer bar, is slated to host "There's No Beer Without Women: Miller Lite Toast to Mary Isle," an extended happy hour in celebration of the new launch of Miller Lite's limited-edition Mary Isle can be inspired by the country's first recorded female brewer and her revolutionary contributions to the American brewing industry – scheduled for Thursday, June 30 from 5 – 8 pm.

Attendees will get the first taste of Mary Isle while enjoying refreshments from the Devil's Den and learning about The Pink Boots Society — an organization to encourage and support women and non-binary individuals in brewing.

Just in time for Independence Day weekend, Miller Lite is reimagining its iconic design to celebrate the trailblazing impact women have made in beer with the limited-edition Mary Lisle can. In 1734, Mary successfully ran a Philadelphia brewery, becoming the first American woman to own and operate one. But through time, women were excluded from the industry as others saw an opportunity to cash in on the nation's love of beer, forcing most women out of business altogether.

"When people think of the beer industry, they think of men; very few people realize that we actually have women to thank for beer in America," said Elizabeth Hitch, Senior Director of Marketing for Miller Lite. "There's no better time to celebrate and put women back into the history books of beer than on the single largest beer selling weekend in America."

Miller Lite will donate $5 from any case purchased online via Drizly or Instacart from Monday, June 27 through Monday, July 4 to the Pink Boots Society, a non-profit organization with international membership which supports women working in the brewing profession, especially in creating craft beer. Additionally, Miller Lite is committing to the long-term development and representation of women in the beer industry to support the next generation of female brewers.

"The mission of the Pink Boots Society is to assist, inspire and encourage women and non-binary individuals in the fermented beverage industry through education," said Erin Wallace, Owner of Devil's Den and board member of the Pink Boots Society. "Our scholarship program offers women and non-binary individuals opportunities to further their education and advance their careers. Every year we can expand our scholarship offerings and the numbers of recipients thanks to generous donations and fundraising."

Wallace, Founder of Devil's Den and self-taught beer connoisseur, is planning a celebratory experience at the South Philadelphia gastropub for imbibers on Thursday, June 30, from 5 – 8 pm. This event is free to attend, with registration required by clicking here. Registration includes entry to the event, Mary Isle cans, and non-alcoholic libations. Devil's Den will set up an appetizer buffet with fare including cheese and charcuterie, dips and crudité, chicken skewers, hot dog wraps, pretzel bites with IPA cheese sauce, and more. During the evening, a representative from Miller Brewing Company will be on-site to speak on the release of Mary Isle cans and give the backstory on the beer and charitable component.
